There are many Chinese injection molding suppliers who do not deal with molded plastics on a regular basis or are entertaining molding for the first time. The customer should be educated on the injection molding process and the tooling required, but that often is not the case. They rely on their vendor of choice to guide them to the best possible outcome. It would be a welcome gift to have a RFP for a new part that was accompanied full mold design. But this is unlikely as the sister injection mold (which is running with one of our suppliers in China) has initially produced acceptable results and tan got more brittle. Our present plastic parts are much better, but I am still not happy as I want to make sure that I get them as good as possible in China prior to shipping the injection mold to US. We have already increased to temperature up to the maximum the Chinese supplier of the material recommends and have increased the cycle time by 5 seconds. Gate size and location are component design determined and can't be altered. The holding pressure while high is not excessive for a part of this shape and with such an amount of small features.
