Established in May 1962, Ssangyong Cement operates three plants in Donghae, Yeongwol and Mungyeong, which produce 15 million tons of cement a year, and is the No.1 cement manufacturer in Korea.

With its product quality recognized the world over, Ssangyong Cement comes to the fore in the domestic cement supply and accounts for more than half of the cement exports from Korea. The ISO9001 (product quality) and ISO14001 (environmental management) certifications that the Company won in the mid of 1990s, before any other Korean businesses, are testaments of its status as a first-rate cement manufacturer.

Ssangyong Cement also supplies 7 million cubic meters of ready mixed concrete made from its own cement at 21 plants to construction jobsites nationwide. The Company plays a pivotal role in supplementing the nation`s social overhead capital and enhances the level of the construction industry through the development of specialty concretes, such as high-strength/durability concrete and low-heat concrete.

Ssangyong Cement has come a long way in environmental protection through the development of the technology of recycling or retreating wastes, such as tires, plastics, waste sludge, anti-freezing solution and byproduct gypsum from flue gas desulfurization, using them in the cement production process.
